Singapore-based FNB retail chain BreadTalk has appointed a new chief executive.
Former managing director Henry Chu will take over Oh Eng Lock, who will step down from his position starting 1 July.
Chu was part of the enterprise between 2010-2012 before joining Maxim’s Caterers in Hong Kong as general manager for four years. “He is a proven leader who has demonstrated exemplary management capabilities and a track record of accomplishments throughout his career,” said chairman George Quek, BreadTalk.
During Chu’s prior tenure with BreadTalk, he oversaw expansion, including the ToastBox brand, Food Republic, RamenPlay and Carl’s Jr in China. Chu has previously served with Delifrance Singapore, Starbucks Thailand, China and Shell Eastern Petroleum.
BreadTalk was founded in 2000 and is a publicly listed company on the Singapore Exchange. Besides its namesake brand, the company is also the owner and operator of Din Tai Fung restaurants in Singapore and Thailand as well as food court Food Republic in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The company boasts over 1,000 retail outlets across 17 territories.
