One of Thailand’s largest retailers Siam Piwat has opened an Aland store in the country, one of South Korea’s top fashion retailer.
This is the first Aland franchise outside of South Korea as the brand looks to expand overseas. Its second outlet will be in Brooklyn, New York, an up and coming neighbourhood for high street fashion in the United States.
The store is located on the second floor of Siam Center in Bangkok and spans across 730 square metres offering up to 10,000 fashion apparel, accessories and beauty goods.
Chairoj Sridecharinkul, managing director, international fashion brand retail, Siam Piwat, said that the company has signed a five-year agreement with Aland to open stores in Thailand. The retailer expects to achieve THB100 million (USD3 million) in sales by the end of the year.
“We plan to open about four Aland franchise stores locally over the next five years,” said Sridecharinkul. “In addition to the first Aland store at Siam Center, the second Aland outlet will be opened by IconSiam, a retail complex on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, which will commence by next year.
“Meanwhile, the other two will be free-standing stores to be opened outside the group’s shopping complexes.”
Aland has over 16 of its own brand stores in its home country and three in Hong Kong. “Aland should help support retail business growth for the company, re-emphasising Siam Piwat as a leader in retail business and innovator in retailing that brings new fashions into the country,” said Chairoj.
